Consultation: Nature Investment Toolkit

Consultation: Nature Investment Toolkit
27.10.26

The Nature Investment Toolkit aims to provide a shared, label-independent method for describing what a nature investment is, what it does, and the risks it may carry. It is deliberately high-level, capturing an investment at face value so that different investors can interpret the same core decision-relevant information in a consistent way.

The toolkit consists of four documents:

  • A Common Approach to Nature Investments: provides the background to the toolkit, explains the core concepts and methodology, and includes a worked example demonstrating how the approach can be applied in practice.
  • Describe: Nature Investment Profile: supports users in describing an investment through a common set of decision-relevant characteristics.
  • Flag: Nature Investment Risk Catalogue: supports users in identifying and flagging key risks associated with a nature investment.
  • Question: Nature Investment Due Diligence Questions: provides a set of questions to help users assess and interrogate nature investment opportunities.

A Common Approach to Nature Investments, Describe: Nature Investment Profile and Flag: Nature Investment Risk Catalogue are publicly available for consultation.

Question: Nature Investment Due Diligence Questions is available to IIGCC members for comment during the consultation period.

Feedback is welcome on any part of the Nature Investment Toolkit. Respondents can focus solely on the sections most relevant to their expertise and experience. When submitting feedback, select the document(s) on which you wish to comment. The consultation form will automatically display the questions relevant to your selected document(s).

In this consultation period, all elements of the toolkit remain open to refinement. Content is subject to revision and should not be cited as final. The purpose of the consultation is to test the approach, identify areas for improvement, and gather feedback from practitioners. Additional materials, including use cases, worked examples, and approaches for specific themes or investment contexts, may be developed in future in response to investor demand and feedback.
