Policy

Our policy work helps shape sustainable finance, sectoral policies and global climate initiatives in line with investors' needs.

Through our advocacy and engagement with policymakers, we encourage the development of a supportive policy environment for scaling financial flows in line with climate goals and decarbonising the real economy. We advocate for high ambition outcomes from key international milestones, like the annual UNFCCC COPs, to ensure the successful implementation of the Paris Agreement.

Our work helps our members to:
Investor voice

Amplify the investor voice on priority global, regional and national policy issues, across real economy and sustainable finance

Ensure their feedback

Ensure their feedback from wider investor activities, including corporate engagement and net zero implementation, is incorporated into policy advocacy

Implement climate regulation

Implement climate regulation, as well as providing opportunities to feed into the development of future regulation or reform existing regulation

isolation mode

Address implementation barriers to net zero portfolio alignment and leverage policy-related opportunities to reduce emissions in the real economy.

To achieve our policy-related objectives, our work focuses on several key areas.

Sustainable finance:

We advocate for credible and coherent sustainable finance regulation that increases transparency over climate-related risks and opportunities and encourages the reorientation of capital towards the transition. Through the creation of an enabling policy environment, we aim to ensure that investment flows to the areas of the economy that will have the greatest impact on real world decarbonisation. We also support our members with the implementation of their own regulatory obligations, whilst advocating for regulation that is both ambitious and workable in practice.

Real economy:

We amplify the investor voice on real economy policy, encouraging the setting of ambitious national and international targets and near-term sectoral policies that provide investment incentives and certainty for the net zero transition. In doing so, we hope to see future policy frameworks that encourage the meeting, or better still, the exceeding of existing climate targets.

Global advocacy and initiatives:

We take a prominent role in key global forums, including UNFCCC COPs, in order to advocate for an ambitious approach to global frameworks and their implementation. We showcase investor contributions to the goals of the Paris Agreement, and amplify the voice of investors to support policy outcomes which reflect investors' needs.
