IIGCC response to European Commission consultation on climate resilience

IIGCC response to European Commission consultation on climate resilience
17.04.26

Our submission to the European Commission in February presents investor feedback on the development of the EU's climate resilience framework

The European Commission is developing a new integrated framework for European climate resilience and risk management to help EU Member States prevent and prepare for the growing impacts of climate change. The objective is to establish a more ambitious and coherent EU approach to climate resilience and preparedness.

To aid the development of this framework, the Commission launched a open call for submissions from all stakeholders. The consultation focused on these key areas:

  • Climate resilience by design
  • Legislative framework and decision-support tools for climate resilience
  • Protecting people and supporting regional and local action
  • Harnessing innovation opportunities
  • Finance and insurance

The consultation follows IIGCC’s involvement in the Commission’s Resilience Reflection Group last year, which initiated the development of this framework. The group’s final report included references to IIGCC member PCRAM case studies.

For more information on this consultation and IIGCC's response, please contact Hajira Kamran, Policy Programme Manager or Anne Chataigne, Senior Programme Manager, Adaptation and Resilience.
