  • A keynote address from Lord Adair Turner, Chair of the Energy Transitions Commission, followed by an audience Q&A. Lord Turner will explore the importance of building climate resilience, alongside growing economic and financial implications of escalating physical climate risks and how investors can help unlock private finance required for the transition. 
  • Reflections on this year and a look ahead to IIGCC’s new three year strategy (2027-2029).
  • Official AGM business, including the appointment of a new Board chair with Faith Ward due to step down. 
  • Networking opportunities, including lunch and a drinks reception.

Welcome to the AGM and reflections on achievements in 2026, as well as a look ahead to key priorities for 2027. This will include some time for AGM business, including an update on finances and voting resolutions.

Lord Adair Turner - Keynote

Chair of the Energy Transitions Commission

Lord Turner chairs the Energy Transitions Commission, a global coalition of companies and energy experts. It conducts technoeconomic analysis of how to achieve low and eventually net zero emissions in all sectors of the economy, and argues for the public policies and private sector investments which will achieve that objective.

He is an independent member of the House of Lords, Visiting Professor at Bayes Business School, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society and of the Energy Institute.

Lord Turner advises regularly climate and government bodies - including the COP Presidency and ministers in the EU, UK, China and Australia, and is often featured in global media as an expert on the energy transition, including in the Financial Times, Economist, BBC, CNN and Bloomberg.

He holds roles in industry too: he is the Chairman of insurer group Chubb Europe; Chairman of UK bank Oaknorth Ltd.; and on the Board of Envision Galaxy (part of Envision Group). More recently he was appointed adviser to Watershed Technologies Inc. 

During his public policy career, Lord Turner chaired the Financial Services Authority (2008-2013) where he played a lead role in the redesign of global banking and shadow banking regulation. From 2008 to 2012 he chaired the Climate Change Committee, an independent body overseeing the UK’s government on their path to a zero-carbon economy. Their first set of recommendations were adopted by the UK government in full.

Between 2002 and 2006 Lord Turner chaired the UK Pensions Commission and recommended the creation of a system of defined contribution pensions with an ‘opt-out’ element that proved transformative. He also chaired the Low Pay Commission (2002-2006) and was Director General of the Confederation of British Industry (1995-2000).

Lord Turner is the author of “Between Debt and the Devil” (Princeton 2015), and Economics after the Crisis (MIT 2012). 

Faith Ward

Outgoing IIGCC Board Chair

Faith was formerly Chief Responsible Investment Officer for Brunel Pension Partnership and remains their authorised representative, and is Chair of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC). These roles enable her to advocate for better appreciation of systemic risk as well as design solutions that embed such risks, like climate change, into the operations of finance and investment, an industry she has served for over 25 years.

Faith’s other roles include member of the Ethics Investment Advisory Group for the Church of England National Investing Bodies; member of Investor Advisory Group for ISSB (formerly SASBIAG); Member of the UK Green Taxonomy Advisory Group; and Climate Ambassador for the National Federation of Women's Institutes.

Faith is a founder and formerly its co-chair of the Transition Pathway Initiative and currently NED. She was also the chair of the Reporting and Assessment Advisory Committee for the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).

Stephanie Pfeifer

CEO, IIGCC

Stephanie has led IIGCC since 2005 and overseen its expansion into a European-focused investor group. She sits on the Steering Committees for Climate Action 100+, the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative and the Investor Agenda, as well as the Executive Committee for the Paris Aligned Asset Owners.

Prior to her role at IIGCC, Stephanie worked in investment banking for over seven years, including as a senior economist at Morgan Grenfell and a VP at Deutsche Bank in London. She holds an MSc with distinction in Environmental Studies, a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and an MA in Economics from Exeter University. Stephanie received an OBE for her services to climate finance in Her Majesty the Queen's Jubilee Birthday Honours List in 2022.

Jan Erik

Treasurer of the Board, IIGCC

Jan Erik Saugestad is CEO of Storebrand Asset Management. Prior to his current role he was the Chief Investment Officer and Head of Asset allocation.

Mr. Saugestad has broad and deep asset management experience and knowledge gained over the years holding high profile positions within the industry in companies such as Nordea, Handelsbanken and McKinsey. He holds a degree in Master of Science at NTNU in Norway and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
