The Role
We are looking for a self-motivated and collaborative professional to develop the nature and deforestation work of our Policy Programme. This is an exciting time to join IIGCC to work on this strategic priority for the organisation. You will add to and compliment the work already being done in this area in our Corporate and Investor Strategies Programmes by adding the important policy and advocacy angle.
You will report into the Director of the Policy Programme and will work closely with the global climate senior policy manager in the team on climate-nature synergies, including to prepare for key milestones such as the nature components of the ‘climate’ COPs and CBD COP in 2026. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues in other teams working on nature and deforestation initiatives, such as Finance Sector Deforestation Action (FSDA) and Nature Action 100, to identify related policy considerations and advocacy opportunities.
You will be responsible for designing and executing a nature and deforestation policy strategy for the team and identifying relevant initiatives and partners to engage with, including collaborating on advocacy campaigns. As the first hire with nature expertise and knowledge in the policy team, you will advise on the regulatory and policy priorities for engaging with investors and policy makers in this area. You will identify policy gaps and opportunities to engage with decision makers on these areas and spearhead the policy team’s nature work which could include drafting thought leadership pieces, presenting work to investor members and representing IIGCC, including through public speaking at relevant events. Relationship management is a key part of the role as you will be the focal point for a range of stakeholders, including investors, UN and European stakeholders and civil society.
While this role is initially offered on a fixed term basis for 24months, we hope that the contract can be extended, subject to resources.
