IIGCC's response to BEIS Review of Net Zero: Call for Evidence

IIGCC's response to BEIS Review of Net Zero: Call for Evidence
27.10.22

On 29 September, the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Services (BEIS) published its Call for Evidence on the UK’s approach to delivering its net zero targets. The review was issued to obtain evidence and views from relevant stakeholders on how the UK can deliver a transition that is pro-business and pro-growth, while also supporting UK energy security.

On 27 October we submitted our response, setting out the case that the net zero transition will provide considerable opportunities to boost growth, create jobs, and cement the nation’s position as a world-leader in green products and services. Critically, we also note that a consistent and robust net zero transition will help ensure the UK avoids the worst impacts of a climate crisis that threatens to businesses and communities alike.

Our Policy Programme Director Emily Murrell has also published an Insight piece on how the UK’s economy can continue to grow with net zero and establish a global climate leadership.
