IIGCC joins coalition of 35 built environment stakeholder groups in signing letter on EU EPBD
06.02.23

Ahead of a European Parliament ITRE Committee vote on 9 February 2023, IIGCC and 34 other stakeholders signed a letter which was sent to Members of the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, calling for a decisive and ambitious approach that delivers a decarbonised building stock in Europe.

The letter was signed by a coalition of 35 built environment stakeholder groups representing over 6,000 organisations across Europe. It calls on the MEPs to support an Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) revision which will accelerate building renovation and address energy use and efficiency via the introduction of Minimum Energy Performance Standards and harmonisation of Energy Performance Certificates; and address total lifecycle emissions of buildings, including both operational and embodied emissions by supporting provisions regarding Whole Life Carbon reporting, targets, and thresholds.
