About

This event will offer IIGCC members a chance to explore how we can support them with their engagement and stewardship activities, both as part of engagement initiatives and more widely.

Engage will offer members:

  • An overview of IIGCC’s work to facilitate investor engagement in support of net zero
  • A showcase of concepts developed in 2023 and proposed priorities for 2024
  • Hands-on workshops across a range of topics
  • Panel discussions with industry experts
  • The opportunity to network and meet with IIGCC and other investors

Topics to be covered include:

  • Engagement support, including through initiatives such as Climate Action 100+ and NZEI
  • Net zero voting
  • Sector and banks engagements
  • Bondholder stewardship
  • Action on climate, nature and biodiversity

Workshops are only available to IIGCC members. Workshops are not available to online attendees. Online attendees can watch the plenary sessions from 16:20 - 17:50 GMT.

Engaging through IIGCC
This presentation will explore alternative collaborative engagement initiatives, including NZEI, NA100, and the IIGCC Banks working group. IIGCC will update investors on progress to date, expectations, and how they can become more involved. There will then be a short introduction to the workshops.

Please note the following workshops are only open to IIGCC members.

Attendees will have the opportunity to join two workshops from the below list of options. The first set of workshops will take place before a short break, after which the same sessions will be repeated and attendees can participate in a different session.

Workshop 1 -  Nature and Biodiversity in the Climate Transition

The IIGCC Transition Research team plan to develop guidance for sectors most exposed to AFOLU emissions, integrating both climate and nature considerations in tandem for the first time. The outputs will aim to support investor-company engagements under NA100 and lay the foundations to integrate AFOLU emissions into the This workshop will form the basis of that guidance’s scope and explore how to best integrate in IIGCC’s engagement platforms.

Workshop 2 -  Bondholder Stewardship

In June 2023, IIGCC published its Bondholder Stewardship Guidance. Bondholder stewardship has also been included in CA100+ phase 2. This workshop will consider the key learnings from the guidance walk through practical case studies with investors.

Workshop 3 - Overview of the IIGCC Banks Standard and discussion on key engagement priorities  

In June 2023 IIGCC published its Net Zero Standard for the banking sector, with the TPI Assessment Framework results published in September. After a short presentation of the Standard, this session will explore practical application of the Standard/Assessment Framework, key lessons and challenges from engagement, and priority areas for investors.

Workshop 4 - Climate Action 100+: Creating and Communicating Impact

Drawing on the views and direct experience of investors in the room, this workshop will look at the key components that investors are using to communicate the impact of corporate engagement undertaken via Climate Action 100+.

Policy, Sector Strategies and Transition Research: Sectors, Sectors, Sectors

This panel will bring together IIGCC’s work on sectors under CA100+ and NZEI to consider how investors can effectively engage across and between sectors. It will dive into how IIGCC research can provide more sector specificity in transition plan analysis. It will also cover how investors can effectively engage on systemic barriers affecting entire sectors, including how to approach real economy policy, and why taking a cross-sector value chain approach to engagement is important.

Proxy Season: Net Zero Voting, Engagement and 2024 Proxy Season

Proxy season represents the annual crescendo of investors’ engagement activities. In this panel, investors will discuss their approach to net zero voting and supporting engagement through the proxy season, drawing on the net zero voting paper, and their priorities for the 2024 proxy season, including through CA100+ and NZEI.
