This paper provides a detailed assessment of the UK Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan through the lens of institutional investors committed to net zero.
The power sector plays a central role in the UK’s decarbonisation ambitions and is critical to enabling the wider economy’s transition to net zero. As such, a credible and investment-ready roadmap for clean power is essential for achieving the UK’s climate goals.
Building on IIGCC’s earlier work - including investor principles for sector decarbonisation roadmaps - this report evaluates the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan against investor expectations. Key areas examined include policy credibility, clarity on investment needs, financing mechanisms, and integration with broader climate commitments such as the UK’s Nationally Determined Contribution.
This paper aims to support investors in engaging with policymakers and industry, helping to accelerate the UK’s clean energy transition while managing climate-related financial risks.
