IIGCC letter to President von der Leyen regarding EU Taxonomy

Following a letter sent by IIGCC to Commissioner McGuinness dated 16 February 2021 regarding the draft Delegated Regulation under the Taxonomy Regulation, IIGCC wrote to President von der Leyen and Commissioner McGuinness on 15 April 2021.

To support the alignment of Europe’s economy with net zero emissions, IIGCC recommends the draft Delegated Regulation under the Taxonomy Regulation upholds, as a minimum, the level of climate ambition recommended by the Technical expert group on sustainable finance (TEG). To ensure the taxonomy is aligned with net zero emissions, it is of key importance that the technical screening criteria for the taxonomy maintain a science-based approach. In particular, IIGCC discourages any inclusion of natural gas without abatement (e.g. without carbon capture) within the scope of the taxonomy.  The full recommendations and letter can be downloaded below.
