IIGCC investor letter on EU net zero emissions target
Through IIGCC, over 40 investor members wrote to all EU heads of state and government, to highlight their support for the proposed EU net zero emissions target and encourage leaders to approve it at the December European Council meeting.
The letter carries the signatures of CEOs and senior executives, from a range of investor organisations, representing over €6 trillion in assets collectively under management. Among other points addressed in the letter, the investors highlight the urgency of greater action on climate change and the benefits offered by approval and implementation the target,
At the time of writing, the December European Council meeting (12-13th), offered the next opportunity for leaders to sign off on the target, to then pass it into EU law.
