Global Statement calling on the U.S. to rejoin the Paris Agreement

12.11.20

IIGCC is one of the founding partners of The Investor Agenda –  a major global initiative aimed at worldwide investor action on climate change. On 4 November, IIGCC and 5 of the founding partners of the Investor Agenda called on the United States to immediately rejoin the Paris Agreement following the country’s formal withdrawal from the global pact. With 189 nations having ratified the landmark accord since 2015, the U.S. is the only country in the world to have formally withdrawn from it.

Among other key messages, the statement also calls on all signatories to the Agreement to fulfil their obligations and step up their climate ambition in order to secure a sustainable global economic recovery following the pandemic and net-zero emissions future.

The statement was shared with heads of state and government of the G20 and other key policymakers, receiving a positive response.
