Business support for setting an ambitious UK 2030 NDC in line with the net zero target
01.12.20
IIGCC collaborated with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership on a letter from UK business groups to the UK Prime Minister calling for an ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) by the end of the year to be at least in line with the Paris Agreement, the UK’s own net zero by 2050 target and advice from the Climate Change Committee on the UK’s 2030 target. The letter carries the support of 78 businesses and investors.
The letter was sent to the Prime Minister on 1 December, Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Foreign Secretary, the Secretaries of State for BEIS, DEFRA and DfT, and the Minister for the Cabinet Office. On 5 December, the UK Government announced a 2030 target of at least 68%, in line with advice from the UK Climate Change Committee on the UK’s 2030 target.
