Addressing climate risks and opportunities in the investment process

Addressing climate risks and opportunities in the investment process: a practical guide for trustees and boards of asset owner organisations.
This ‘how to’ guide is intended to support asset owner trustees and boards in their deliberations on incorporating climate-related risks and opportunities into board level processes. As a practical tool, the guide provides a series of questions and answers, examples of best practice and useful resources, to support implementation at each step of the investment process.
Why investors need to address climate change
Climate change poses one of the greatest systemic risks we face today. The management of climate-related financial impacts is also consistent with the fiduciary duty of trustees. It is therefore imperative that trustees and boards understand the exposure of their investments to climate-related risks and opportunities, as well as the actions they can take to build greater resilience across portfolios.
The ‘how to’ guide – ‘Addressing climate risks and opportunities in the investment process’ – produced by the IIGGC, provides a practical tool to aid this process.
