Policy Programme Manager – overview

The Role

We are looking for a motivated team player to lead on key areas of work related to the real economy and sustainable finance within IIGCC’s policy programme. This includes supporting policy development and coordination across IIGCC’s global, EU and national policy workstreams. Reporting to the IIGCC’s Policy Programme Director and working closely with the sustainable finance manager, you will be responsible for helping ensure that investor members are up to speed and able to actively engage on policy of direct relevance to their portfolios and the transition to a low carbon economy across both real economy and sustainable finance. This could involve producing briefings and materials for members, horizon scanning for key policy developments to inform the Policy Programme strategy, liaising with other IIGCC programmes to support the development of policy positions, and organising virtual and in-person events.

In addition, you will work to inform and strengthen policy decisions made in support of a low carbon, climate resilient world and ensure that the investor perspective is at the heart of the conversation on climate change and sustainable finance policy. This could include supporting advocacy activities such as organising responses to policy consultations and engaging with policymakers on behalf of members. You will have regular contact with investors as well as with our wider stakeholders including policymakers, civil society and businesses. You will develop working relationships with key stakeholders in Brussels, national governments and the international community.

Responsibilities

  • Work with IIGCC members and wider IIGCC team to develop and present IIGCC’s position on key regulatory issues relating to the real economy and sustainable finance. This will include:
    – Drafting policy statements and responses to government/financial regulator consultations, and reflecting member views
    – Working to find consensus amongst IIGCC’s members on policy topics, convening small group discussions where appropriate
    – Supporting outreach and advocacy with policymakers at the global, EU and UK level
    – Supporting our communications work in areas linked to policy
  • Undertake relevant research and analysis relating to policy developments on real economy and sustainable finance in order to support members’ understanding of the implications for them of regulatory and policy developments
  • Horizon scan and track policy developments, legislative processes, and negotiations on the real economy and sustainable finance at the global, EU and UK level, for monthly policy updates.
  • Support the delivery and facilitation of IIGCC’s global policy work and campaigns that are delivered through the Investor Agenda, including the delivery of the global policy campaigns.
  • Support the delivery and facilitation of IIGCC’s European policy work, including with other investor networks via The Investor Agenda.
  • Support the development of IIGCC’s COP27 strategy and the coordination of IIGCC activity at COP27, working closely with IIGCC’s Board, members, and wider team.
  • Draft speaking notes relating to policy as required for team members including IIGCC’s CEO.
  • Connect the dots between the other programmes, and ensure that IIGCC policy activity is informed by the Investor Practices and Corporate Programme and vice versa.
  • Coordinate IIGCC policy working groups, such as the IIGCC Policy Steering Group, webinar logistics, agendas, meeting minutes.
  • Liaise with the communications team as a key point of contact around collating content for communications outputs and planning. Advise on the content of social media posts.
  •  Support the wider team to deliver IIGCC’s activities, including events and membership support.
  • Collaborate with IIGCC initiatives as required.

Skills and capabilities

  • Solid understanding of key policy and regulatory issues pertinent to investors in the real economy and sustainable finance
  • Solid understanding of policymaking and decision-making processes within: UK government, EU institutions, UNFCCC.
  • Ideally, some experience in financial services and/or sustainable investment and finance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management capabilities
  • Strong project management, coordination and organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise and operate under pressure
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal and in writing

Membership Manager – overview

The Role

IIGCC are looking for a Membership Manager who will have a unique opportunity to build and execute a membership development and engagement strategy across continental Europe that delivers sustained membership growth, strong retention, and enduring relationships with investors and which improves IIGCC’s membership offering. A key part of the role will be to understand and raise awareness of IIGCC and its workstreams and initiatives across Europe, with the support of the CEO or Programme Directors where appropriate. By first exploring and analysing the potential for membership growth, and then proactively driving and delivering membership expansion, the Membership Manager will establish strong relationships with investors. An effective candidate will also assist with developing, enhancing, and communicating IIGCC’s value proposition to members.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse current membership and understand the membership potential
    – Map and segment the institutional investor space across Europe by region, type, size and other relevant measures.
    – Identify gaps in the membership and build a target list of key organisations.
    – Understand organisations’ structure and subsidiaries to develop a clear and simple set of eligibility criteria for members.
    – Work with the communications team to raise awareness of IIGCC’s work and core messages in European countries where we have few or no members currently.
  • Deliver membership growth
    – Proactively seek opportunities to recruit and retain members, promoting IIGCC through engagement with key organisations, industry partners and stakeholders to achieve the annual growth target.
    – Utilise staff and board members’ networks to build relationships and raise awareness of IIGCC’s mission and activities.
    – Provide comprehensive information and guidance to prospective members via email, telephone, in person meetings and social media platforms.
    – Lead recruitment meetings with prospective members, drafting in the programme teams where necessary.
    – Track opportunities and build a plan for progressing each opportunity to deliver growth and provide regular reports for inclusion in the board papers.
  • Enhance member satisfaction
    – Develop strong relationships with IIGCC’s programme and communications teams to keep abreast of recent developments and ensure members are aware of all that IIGCC has to offer.
    –  Follow up with recent members to check expectations are being met and explore opportunities for engagement/involvement.
    – Identify members with low engagement levels and investigate any perceived gaps in our offering.
    – Represent IIGCC at relevant events to help raise the organisation’s profile and help showcase recent initiatives, guides or workstreams.
    – Identify where specific events or meetings on the Continent will enhance member satisfaction and work with the team to deliver these.
  • Aid overall team effectiveness
    – Work with the wider team to integrate the organisation’s new CRM system, building data which is useful and provides relevant data to analyse trends and identify gaps as well as ensuring best practice, GDPR compliant contact management and lead tracking, and financial tracking.
    – Contribute to webinar and event organisation, identify relevant guests from target organisations and tracking member registration and attendance as a measure of participation and engagement.
    – Contribute to team meetings, for example with respect to investor member recruitment and coverage.

Skills and capabilities

Essential

  • Successful track record of business development or relationship management, preferably within the financial sector or other service-based industries such as management consulting.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; an empathetic listener and a confident speaker with excellent persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Comfortable building relationships with people at all levels of seniority (up to C-suite).

Senior Manager – Climate Action 100+ – overview

The Role

In this role you will help to coordinate IIGCC’s involvement in Climate Action 100+ at the global level while coordinating company engagements in Europe across a range of sectors. You will be at the heart of the largest shareholder engagement initiative ever assembled and will play an active role in shaping the strategy of the initiative. At the global level – working with our partner networks globally – you will help manage the global work programme constituted of a range of strategic projects including the development and enhancement of the Climate Action 100+ Net Zero Company Benchmark, development of the initiative’s long term strategy and coordination of reporting on engagement progress. At the European level, you will help coordinate shareholder engagement to secure net zero transition plans from companies across a range of sectors. This will involve working closely with investors, the rest of the IIGCC corporate team and also the other IIGCC programmes on policy and investor practices.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Programme Director, management of the development of the long term strategy of Climate Action 100+

Head of Engagement Initiatives – overview

The Role

As investors look to deliver portfolio alignment the role of engagement initiatives like Climate Action 100+ and investor stewardship more widely has never been more prominent. In this newly created role you will take a lead coordinating IIGCC’s corporate engagement activities to support investors to fulfil their portfolio objectives. Working with IIGCC’s CEO and Corporate Programme Director, you will play a leading role coordinating the world’s largest climate engagement initiative, Climate Action 100+, which ensures global coordination of investor engagement on the most significant GHG emitters. This will involve overseeing delivery of IIGCC led engagements in Europe as well as working with our global partner networks to set the agenda of the initiative and ensure delivery of global strategic projects, from benchmarking to global engagement strategy. You will help shape the development and implementation of pioneering new collaborative engagement initiatives on key sectors like banks to help investors secure adequate net zero transition planning from companies. This will involve the development of tools and approaches to drive impactful collaborative engagement as well as day to day management of engagements.

Senior Specialist – Net Zero Stewardship – overview

The Role

This newly created role sits at the nexus between these pioneering initiatives and will be focused on levelling up investor stewardship to deliver net zero portfolios. We are looking for an innovative thinker who wants to help create a step change in climate stewardship. You will develop new tools and guidance to help investors to implement effective voting and net zero stewardship strategies. You will use such tools to work directly with IIGCC members to help them to upgrade their approach to net zero stewardship with a particular focus on voting policy design. You will also coordinate IIGCC member engagement with key service providers like proxy advisors. You will be comfortable exploring new challenges in unchartered territory. This might include developing and piloting new engagement strategies or exploring how investors can engage in under-addressed asset classes like private equity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools and guidance to support investors to produce effective net zero stewardship plans. This may include guidance and template tools for net zero aligned voting or guidance for fixed income investors looking to use engagement.
  • Support investors to help them implement effective net zero stewardship strategies. For example, by organising educational roundtables and webinars on key emerging best practices and carrying out 1-2-1 outreach.

Legal and Compliance Advisor/Manager – overview

The Role

A fantastic part-time opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Counsel to join IIGCC, to provide a pragmatic in-house legal support service to the organisation and to support the mitigation of risk arising from any legal, regulatory, compliance or governance issues. You will be English law qualified with substantial post-qualification experience, ideally with
experience in the charities and not-for-profit sector and will have solid experience of working on a range of contracts. As this is a standalone role, we have a strong preference for previous experience that includes a role as the sole in-house legal expert. You will enjoy working in an agile and flexible way to manage a busy and varied workload and will be adept at networking and forming effective and constructive working relationships.

Responsibilities

Contracts

  • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on the preparation of all contracts, licences, and other legal
    agreements (such as NDAs)
  • Work with internal stakeholders to increase awareness and skills in relation to contract
    management and legal risk, partnering with key individuals within the organisation to identify
    potential legal issues as they arise.
  • Support the continued improvement of standard form agreements, contract management and
    legal processes and implement improved systems and procedures where required.
  • Where appropriate, appoint, brief, manage and oversee external legal advisors.

Real Estate Senior Manager – overview

The Role

We are looking for a motivated team player to lead on key areas of work within Paris Aligned Investment Initiative (PAII) and support development and implementation of the Net Zero Investment Framework.  Reporting to the Investor Practices Programme Director but working very closely with the rest of the team given the cross-cutting nature of this role, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating our workstreams on real assets, focusing on real estate and infrastructure. You will have regular contact with investors as well as with our wider stakeholders including policymakers, civil society and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Manage PAII workstreams on real estate and infrastructure to support investors to assess alignment of assets and manage portfolios to align to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
  • Undertake relevant research and analysis relating to the workstream topics in order to develop guidance, case studies and activities to support members to develop and implement the Net Zero Investment Framework.
  • Work closely with investors to understand how they are implementing net zero strategies and key barriers and challenges in order to identify priority areas for further work to support robust implementation in these sectors.
  • Manage third party consultants to undertake relevant research and analysis where this is not being carried out by IIGCC.
  • Engage with a range of third-party organisations to develop partnerships and take forward collaborative work to develop methodologies, approaches, and improve data availability, and drive the agenda for achieving net zero in the built environment, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the outputs and impact of IIGCC’s work to funders
  • Liaise with the communications team as a key point of contact around collating content for communications outputs.

  • Familiarity with technical issues including scenario analysis, assessing climate risk and impact, emissions accounting, and ESG data collection and analysis is an advantage.
