Aims

To increase corporate and financial sector understanding and awareness of the risks and opportunities that climate change poses and creates to institutional investors.

Programme

The workstream will engage with companies on a sector basis. Work on each sector will be led by one fund manager with support from other members of the workstream. The lead fund manager will rotate from sector to sector.

The workstream will commission research from brokers to inform an engagement programme. A summary of the research and engagement findings will be made publicly available to encourage others to address these issues. The reports are likely to highlight direct weather related impacts as well as market and regulatory impacts and will cover both processes and products.

In 2005, the workstream focused on trustee training.

The IIGCC partnered with the Carbon Trust to sponsor Mercer Investment Managers to produce training materials highlighting the fiduciary consequences of climate change for pension funds. These materials are available at:
